My best attempts at photographing lightning, although I have never really tired other than this time. I guess most of it is just luck. Now I can't wait for another storm so I can try this again.

That's an awesome amount of luck to be standing near a tree being struck by lightining and not getting hit.

lol i went out last night! nothing like standing out there with a few grand of equipment and a huge metal tripod in a lightning storm>< fanatics i tell you

At an 18mm focal length, you were either reasonably close, it was a very big tree, or you cropped it a lot.

I guess you could say that the tree was in the far end of the backyard. I did do some cropping also to remove the distracting parts that were in the photo.
